Lopes-Schliep at World Track and Field Championships 2009

Priscilla Lopes-Schliep is getting better with each race, she took bronze at the Olympic Games in Beijing and she has now taken silver for the 100m hurdles at the World Track and Field Championships 2009 in Berlin. Her time was 12.54, just missing out on gold to Jamaica’s Brigitte Foster-Hylton, who did it in a time of 12.51.

According to newsdurhamregion.com, Lopes-Schliep was still celebrating her silver medal a few hours after the race; where she went on to describe her moments after she had run her race. Saying “I knew I was in the top three, but I didn’t know what the place was.”

Schliep also added “I knew Brigitte was in front of me and I told her she won and she said she didn’t even know because she ran to the finish line with her eyes closed.” Just behind Lopes-Schliep in third place was Jamaica’s Delloreen Ennis-London.

Just before the race, Lopes-Schliep was taken to doping control for a random check. She had said that this was a small distraction for her before the race, but she just overcame it, and she did so in style.
