The 2009 World Track and Field Championships are still taking place in Berlin and according to bbc.co.uk; it was a great day for Olympic champion Melaine Walker yesterday. Not only did she set the second fastest time in history, but also went on to win the 400m hurdles final.
Twenty-six year old Walker ran a time of 52.42 seconds, to power ahead of Lashinda Demus of the United States. Demus, who was a little disappointed, said after that it was totally her own fault as she had apparently hit the ninth hurdle and it had thrown her off.

And it was Trinidad’s Josanne Lucas that took the bronze medal, with a time of 53.20 seconds. Walker was obviously over the moon at her win, saying she was not thinking, just running. She also said that it is a fantastic time and claimed everything had been perfect.
