Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez: Full Fight Expectations

On September 19, you will have the choice to watch UFC 103 or the Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez fight. This is the first fight for Mayweather Jr. since his comeback and there are huge expectations on this fight, which is to be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Mayweather Jr. has won six world titles in five weight classes since winning bronze at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. His last fight saw him knock out Ricky Hatton in the tenth round; this was the first of a number of defeats for Ricky Hatton. His most recent was with his fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Manuel Marquez last fight was against Juan Diaz, who just recently won the NABO junior welterweight championship. According to bleuken.com, the officials have now been named for the upcoming fight. Burt Clements, Dave Moretti and William Lerch will be the judges for the 12-round welterweight bout, with Tony Weeks being the referee.

In a recent article, we said that much has changed since Mayweather Jr. left the sport, the biggest being that Manny Pacquiao is now the best pound-for-pound fighter. If Mayweather wishes to prove himself, then the pair will have to meet in the future, that would be a fight worth seeing.

    I think Marquez has a great chance of winning. I only hope that the promoters and the abc’s WBO IBC WBC, all of them, keep the judges honest. I know there is going to be a lot of pressure on them to see that Mayweather wins. Keep the judges honest and Marquez hands Mayweather his first loss.
    I’d love to see Marquez fight, but I’m not going to pay to see Mayweather. He’s just too darn arrogant, and acts very unprofessional. Not a role model by any means

    Mayweather is top 3 most over rated fighters and Pacquiao will get knocked out by Cotto. Come December the landscape of boxing will have shifted dramatically.

    I like Marquez. He has heart. He’s a skilled boxer, but doubtful he’ll win against Mayweather who is faster and stronger. Marquez will most certainly get knocked down by Mayweather, but doubtful he’ll be KO’d. Now Pacquiao against Cotto is another thing. I was there to see Cotto vs Judah and vs Clottey at MSG. I saw Cotto buckle under a Judah punch and a Clottey attack. Yes, Cotto is bigger, but not nearly as fast or can take a shot by a heavy hitter like Pac-Man. It’ll be a war, but I’ll never doubt Pacquiao again. Pac-man over Cotto and eventually over Mayweather. As far as MMA and UFC, sorry but nothing beats the nationalism of boxing. There is enough to go around for boxing, MMA and wrestling. Belidat!

    Mayweather is good, all that recods and no lose at all? that’s why he dont want to fight with Manny couz that’s gonna be his 1st one if will try,,,

    This one is worth watching in the replay.
    I would love to see the day PBF kisses the canvass… Don’t care who does it, but I sure hope manny pac vs money on 1stQ of 2010 will happen.

    I think Marquez should win by decison, but hopefully the judges score rigth this time, not like the fight against paquiao that Marquez clearly won.

    I going with Floyd! He needs to win to fight the winner of the Cotto – Pacquiou fight which will definately be the biggest payday he can make at this point in his career. Anyone in Georgia knows any club or bar showing the fight?

    I’m personally conflicted I kinda wanna see both win. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Pacquaio and Marquez rematch and i wouldn’t mind seeing the Mayweather vs. Pacquaio fight (if Pacquaio wins, which I hope he does) so either way I just hope its a good fight.
