The upcoming 2012 Movie has certainly stirred up our imagination, none so more that Sony Pictures. They have a website called the IHC, many people believe the Institute for Human Continuity website is real, but it is all part of the viral marketing for the upcoming movie, which is due for release on November 13, 2009.
We have two videos below, the first is the New Official 2012 Movie Trailer 3 and the second is of the IHC Ambassador. The movie trailer wets your appetite even more, there are not many new bits, but what I have seen is truly awesome, great to see that the Director of Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow has not lost his touched.
As for the IHC Ambassador Video, He goes on about the disaster that will happen on December 21, 2009. He states that the disaster will have a tremendous impact on our existing governmental intuitions, which is why we need to find a new leader now.
As you can imagine, the comments on YouTube have been varied, why not let us know your own thoughts on this.

My son saw the TV spot, went the website and didn’t sleep well all night because he thought it was real. I’m not amused. This movie promo has gone over the line!
I thought ALL the trailers were clever and kinda made me want to see the movie. Also pamela if your kid is young enough to believe and/or be scared of a trailer and website maybe’s you shoud’nt let someone under 7 look at those things!! I can’t stand parents who bitch cause they suck as parents!BTW this is coming from a father of 2
You do not amuse me because this is just a marketing gimic nscaring little kids into seeing the movie.
I’m surprised that this movie ad isn’t causing mass hysteria to be honest.
I’m a 22 year old and I got scared by the promo commercial for this. I thought it was real and just in case, I put myself and my sister and mother signed up for the lottery.
I had to google if the IHC was real just to realize it was part of the promo for the movie. And though I’m looking forward to the movie (we love our world disaster shows), I don’t think its kind of you, Joshua, to assume that someone has to be a certain age to not get a little scared. I’ve seen the commercial four times and never noticed the ‘this film is not yet rated’. So please don’t lecture a mother for her being upset about this.
Hey Joshua, and all the other folks out there that believe it’s ‘young’ kids that have been disturbed by this trailer, get a clue. There has been so much made of this 2012 business in the past year it disturbs my 16 year old son who is old enough to remember 9/11 and left anxious over the what-ifs and how comes that can not be answered.
We have some how become a society that only seems to feel compelled to live by fear. We must either incite it or maintain it.
What happened to the days when what we really wanted was to be happily outraged by the thought of someone wanting to cause harm to us or REASONABLY terrified by something that wasn’t possible because we were allowed to think ‘that’s not real dear, it’s only a movie’?
I’m a 38 year old mother of two children I’d happily give my life for, the sister of a woman 36 that’s been fighting stage4 breast cancer for the past year( for the second time) and I’m damn tired of looking around to see and hear people like you that think we should shut our ears, eyes, hearts, and minds down to a quiet numbness to survive in this fear based world. I want to feel the all the emotions because they are REAL not made up for the sake of entertainment.
My heart aches for you, Joshua, and all those out there like you. I hope at some point in your life you learn fear and pain. Not that it breaks you, but that it makes you a stronger man that your children can depend on to understand their worries and fears.

I heard about this then looked at the site. Everyone I talked to thought this was for real until I saw that it was through Tristar and Sony after accidentally falling upon a real disclaimer for the leader for 2012 contest but that took some digging. I thought it was a cult At first,…don’t drink the koolaid
this is stupid you have people thinking this is real causing panic there is enough problems to deal with right now we dont need hollywood giving us more to worry about the world is going to end but there is no one on earth that knows when and they dont need to be guessing at it.
Myself being the Christian that I am I knew that even if the world ended in 2012 it’d be God’s will and that nothing we can do would stop it….but also I thought these Moron’s were trying to predict the end it looks completely real this is going too far….I know myself that no Human know’s the end the bible even states that we’ll never know till it happen’s but this crap is going too far only other time in history I’ve heard of this was the 40’s for the Invasion from mar’s thing…..but yeah idiot’s that made these ad’s need to rethink things!
You can all relax. The solar forecast was updated months ago, with the peak of the next cycle coming both later and more mildly than earlier forecasts had predicted.
Please remember to check real things like science before flaking out over make-believe things like prophecy and religious hysteria.
i love the movie and i belive that something is going to happen in 2012 bit i think its going to take a “little longer” than what Hollywood says, but in any case i look forward to seeing the move

I think that the trailer has gone too far. Even educated adults can get blind sighted by it…I am surprised it hasn’t caused more chaos! There should be more censorship for trailers.
Heres the thing, I believe that they should have to put something in there about it being a trailer. It had me believing it for a second. But i did notice that the lower left hand corner of the IHC “supposed” website had a Sony disclaimer. My friend (who were about the same age, mind) assumed the same thing. Next time, Sony, please state this is a movie, and a Hollywood scheme to use scare tactics to lure the public into your money pit…
Well it scared the crap out of my girlfriend. There is a fine line and you flew a plane over it. When you lie and make people believe the world is going to end all so that you can sell a few movie tickets well your the maggot on our evolutionary chain
i got super scared wen i saw the 2012 comercial hehehe i wont deny it but wen i found out it wasent real i was laughing so hard i thought i was going 2 pee on my self lol i dont see y ppl r making such a big deal about the movie? its just a movie that makes u think wat if n i think thats pretty cool if u dont take 2 far… im only 16 but even i know ppl die wen its there time n if the world ends then it ends stop whinning about it!!

This looks like it is going to be a really good movie. If the world ends in 2012, oh well. Nothing we can do about it. Perhaps the Mayans were on to something. After all, Paganism is older than Jesus in his manger, or so all my anthropology classes have stated.

I think that commercial is genius, who ever came up with it should win the oscar. Just to show how stupid people can be to think all they see in T.V. is real. To all that was thinking it was real. HA! HA! HA!.
Did the mayans even predict the world was gonna end? i thought their calender was just ending. That doesnt mean that its the end of time. My guess is that it means that theyre gonna restart. There have been so many past predictions that the world was gonna end, but look were still here. This is just another one of them thats probably wrong.
I Myself Am 18 Years And Terrified That 2012 Will Happen. But Im Not Scared For Myself Im Scared For My 1 Year Old Son. I Heard All The Gibby Gabber About This And I Dont Get Sleep At Night Because When And If This Happens My Son Will Be 4 Years Old. Thats Not Even Old Enough To Go To School. He Will Not Be Able To Grow Up And See The World And That Is What Keeps Me Up At Night. Thinking That He Wont See The Light Of Day On The 22nd Of December And Thinking That He Wont See His 5th Birthday.
Just think if it really did happen we would not have to pay our billion dollar debt back that this country has dug a hole and gotten into. Or maybe we can see how the all mighty Obama will save mankind.
I did think it was for real and really did start to worry more, I am 64 and would love to see my grandkids get married and have their own kids, after reading the web site I honestly got scared. Then as others did I started researching it and my older son told me it was a promo for the movie, I thought well it could happen and people are too into themselves or technology to even think of how we could stop it or save the planet. Wake up people you are given this gift of life, start caring about it and mankind.
I Farther of three agree with joshua, you need to get your kid’s under control if they get scared of a commerical you need to not let them watch tv they dont put a age limit on commerical’s thats the parent’s job.
This may be just a movie trailer, however, it is based on true facts and even the true word references that in the end times, all people will run to “the mountain” in hopes of surviving the end times. And we all know that the government has a place ‘in the mountains’ for just this purpose, so whose to say that this movie trailer isn’t based on reality.
This has gone too far this movie and its trailers, enough is enough, this is making me not want to see it and everyone else i know is saying the same thing!!

Even if the events portrayed in the movie were to happen, it would not be “The End of the World”. The world would just go on without us. The Earth has gone through “cleansings” before- giant asteroid strikes, volcanic ash clouds making endless winters, etc.
There have been tons of disaster films, and this one will not be much different from the others. Just with the hype around it, the Mayan calender, scientific speculation, and soothsayer predictions makes this theory seem more possible. Lighten up, people. Live for the day. Kiss your family and show your love daily, since your time could come any second……
Well, I can prove it’s all a hoax in two perspectives
Religious POV:
God (A.K.A. Jehovah) said that no man can predict the future. Mayan’s are human. Therefore, Mayan’s cannot predict the future.
Scientifical POV:
The solar forecast will be milder then scientist once thought, which will not affect Earth. Also, if it were true, as others pointed out, everyone would be in hysteria: not protesting about taxes and pollution etc.
I, admittedly, was scared when I first saw it, as were others. But it was 2 A.M. when I saw it, so common sense wasn’t exactly awake. A lot of my friends were scared too. It’s disgusting how this trailor was made. It DID put fear into a lot of people. Undoubtedly, handfuls of people did some drastic things when they found out. Even a few suicides cases were recorded over this issue. These trailors need to be remade to not scare people. P****** me off. So really, 2012 is a sham, and no one needs to worry.

What if the global elites knew a hundred years ago that serious world change would happen? Would they tell people flat out? Or would they develop a way to desensitize the population from the impending disaster, and give them warnings in the form of fiction.
This way, mass panic does not ensue and when it happens, the shock is lessened by our pre-exposure to horror and gore.
Has anyone noticed some of the early movies made by Hollywood were apocalyptic: When worlds collide etc?
How about all the movies coming out recently The Core, Deep Impact, Armageddon, The Day After, I am Legend, The Happening.
I fully expect a new movie to come out ” 2 hours from now”
This 2012 movie may be yet another warning, perhaps no scientists have the answer of what could happen, but with even the regular movies telling us to live every moment as if it was our last, something is up.
Bottom line, some people with big money to invest are trying to tell us something,
If you want to tell truth too devastating to be believed, present it as fiction.
Enjoy the rest of our lives, how ever long they may be.
I found it amusing the first time I saw the commercial for the IHC. My initial thoughts were, “Who ever thought up this promo is a genious.” It is now self evident that it drew the weak minded into its promotional ploy.
They wouldn’t put it lightly to us, they would flat out tell us because you can’t beat around the bush when it comes to reality.

I am a 31 year old with extreme OCD. This whole concept has completely knocked me down. It’s one thing that this company is cruely playing with our minds, but I’ve read all over the internet, how people still believe that it’s true, and are still signing up over fear. This is disgusting and I will not see the movie, nor will I support Sony. They’ve gone too far, playing with peoples fears, we have enough to worry about!

I think all this stuff promoting 2012 is really un exceptable. There are children seeing thease commercials, and freaking out, cause they do not know any better. I myself saw the IHC commercail and called my own mother freaking out about it, and I am 27 yrs old. If I had a hard time telling the diffrence, I am pretty sure children would. Why can’t they just advertise the movie on T.V, with a simple commercial saying when it comes to theatres like they usually do with every other movie, why because there are people who actually beleive this stuff is going to happen, fine fair enough beleive what you want but there are those who dought it, and certainly do not want there children getting freaked out by it. Use some brains and common sence when putting this crap on T.V.
