Is the IHC real, and should we ask?

I first learned about the IHC (Institute for Human Continuity) website a few days ago, since then I have been asked if I think that the website is real. The simply question is no, all you need to do is look at the privacy policy below; it will take you to sonypictures.com. This website and all of its fun content has been created as viral marketing for the upcoming disaster movie “2012”.

There are some out there who actually believe that the IHC is in fact real, and that the events on December 21, 2012 will in fact come true. The IHC states that there is a 95 percent chance that earth will be completely destroyed by a series of events. You have to hand it to Sony to add to all the propaganda.

Is the IHC real, and should we ask?

You may wonder why all of this propaganda has started in the first place. The 2012 movie has taken some of the information from the Mayan Calendar. This calendar is not predicting that the world is about to come to an end, just that it comes to a stop. This does not mean that the earth will be destroyed by a series of events; it could mean that the Mayan Calendar will just roll over.

This has not stopped Sony having some great fun with the disaster predictions though. If you visit the IHC website, you can register your place to become part of the new world, you can even apply to become the leader of the new world. Take the website for what it is, just a bit of fun.

this shit is real 2012 disasters have been predicted for thousands of years, but whats the big deal we all die someday.

  • timbo haire

yes its prolley fake.. well defidently fake.. but has anyone ever looked to see how much money our government and others have put into the 2012 film? i beilive this film is a “wake up call” from our government to us.. IHC may not be real as of right now. but you really.. never know.. NASA has openly admitted that in 2012 the solar flares will reach a peak we have not witnessed in the history of mankind. weither this really effects the earths core or not is unknown but as top NASA advisors say “its gonna be a dusey”
    i wonder what that means….

  • Brandon

Damn too bad, this website is fake I went ahead and entered their lottery.

  • Kai

I am scared because, because I dont know what to belive it does seem a bit fare fetched- i happened in 2000, 2006, and now 2012- a pattern ? has any one noticed notheing happened then ?However I do not trust the leaders – I meen they tell us nohing .

  • cofritz

smoke as much weed as possible thats what i say…

Research solar flare activity in 2012 and you may start to understand that the Mayans may be right. A large solar flare can cause magnetic shifts of the earth causing earthquakes, volcanoes, and tidal waves. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2006/10mar_stormwarning.htm

  • nederville

Don’t forget Nostradamus also predicted the end of the world as we know it in 2012.

2012 is the roll over of the mayan calander. It contains 5,251.65 years. Called a galatic day! And no NASA has not seen this before because NASA wasn’t around the other 150,500 times it has happened! Its actually suppose to be one of the most beautiful things man kind has ever seen! And lol the government has not actually put money in to the movie! More flare for hype! I’ve studied the mayan culture for about 8 years now not once do they say this is the end of the world. Ppl only theorize that cause there is nowhere to go after 12 12 12. It’s not december 21, 2012 either btw! Tra! Oh yeah and p.s SMOKE… WEED EVERYDAY!

  • thomas

im sad im only 14 i hope its not true

  • mike piland

check out the good book ., there is only one who knows. [ bewair false profets ] besides if they were so smart why did they go extincet.

It is Scientific FACT that 2012 will in fact herald a new phase of Solar Maximum Activity , which occurs every 11 years. Scientists expect this new Phase to be much more intense than in past decades.
The reality of Solar Max Flares knocking out orbiting satellites ,is very real.
Unfortunately these communications satellites control almost every aspect of modern life for humans on planet earth, and without them modern life would descend into chaos , in less than 30 days.
Most of the earth population would be dead of starvation within three years or less.
Humanity has put all it’s eggs in one basket with the current technology paradigm.
After reading a number of the posts here
and seeing many instances of 3ed grade spelling errors and grammatical sentence structure errors , I believe society as a whole has been in a process of dumbing down to the point where a severe paradigm shift is overdue.
The concept of a Institute for Human Continuity is very appealing, but when the “pool” of potential “lottery ” winners for this endeavor (which would be the assumed new ” human seed stock ”
to rebuild and repopulate the earth after a cataclysm)are for the most part ignorant, undereducated and already genetically compromised , I am disheartened at the prospect of such a Institute actually being able to fulfill it’s mission statement.

Not too original, sounds like “When Worlds Collide” with the intent of scaring people like the “War of the Worlds” did. Commercials sounded like they were announcing a fact and there are always those who will keep it going because they enjoy making people afraid and looking stupid.
    I’m not impressed.

  • Matt

I have to agree with Doctorwhowiz09 on this matter, that simply because a calander ends on a day does not mean that it is the end of time. If you were to warn someone that they were going to be hit by a car, you wouldn’t send them a cryptic message, you would outright tell them. This hype for 2012 really has nothing to fall back on, as far as solid evidence goes. What should alarm you more is the low percentage of our sky that is monitored, so we could be gone tomorrow and not even know it!

  • kyle

you know what this is bull. there have been msny predictions about the world ending… guess what? im still here. and if this is going to happen that would suck because im graduating that year.

  • Jill

ive studied the mayan culture and its a bit scary bt it doesnt mean the world is going to end.Doctorwhowiz09 has a point. its just what u believe if ur that interested why dnt u loom it up??? there is evidence thats been scientifically proven. but nowhere did it say: THE WORLD IS GOING TO END IN 2012…. The IHC is totally stupid and just might cause panic in my opinion. and for me if the world goes to hell it will suck to be me cuz i’ll either be in my freshman year of collage or in my 1st year of the army

@ JACK yeah it looks like you need to go back to the “3ed” grade lmao—->”"After reading a number of the posts here
and seeing many instances of 3ed grade spelling errors and grammatical sentence structure errors”" before you start cracking jokes about ppls spelling ya betta check yo self b4 you wreck yo self!lmao this is a blogging site not school ppl like you are the reason this world is so 3ED GRADE LMAO

  • http://schroederspublishing.com Alex

!!!@ jack! , You sound as if U need medication. With the quoting science and then immediately making insane remarks on world starvation and damnation. Please get your thoughts in order. Are you a realest or a Armageddon nut job?

  • Chase

Only 13, and I hope this blog is right. Didn’t know the IHC had to do anything with the movie, though… it looks good.

  • Hrothgar Doran

There have been so many predictions about the world ending. The fact that there are so many “One and only” predictions that give a single date, (and some of them in the calender we use today too) only decrease there credibility.

Buuuuut, I’m sorry, I really can’t resist. The magnetic field of the Earth apparently changes it’s polarity every so often, and we are apparently due for a change, though this will happen slowly over an extended period of time…

…and yet Albert Einstein said "Time is just an illusion"

You, sir, are an idiot. you use complicated words and expressions to seem inteligent, but you in fact have no idea what you're talking about. Nowadays, satellites are prepared for the solar maximums, which, this time, will be much WEAKER (please quote where you get your info from, because i got mine from NASA senior scientist David Morrison. If you have a more credible scientist providing you with more convincing information, i'll be happy to discuss this point with you). But even if it was going to be abnormally high and the satellites werent prepared for solar activity, we won't die over the shutting down of some comunications satellites. That is absurd. And the proof that you're an idiot is that you weren't capable of pressing the ''Privacy Policy'' button in IHC's website. If you had done that, you'd know IHC is a fictional organization created for the purpose of promoting the 2009 film '2012'. Concluding, using complicated words and expressions won't make you seem more inteligent if those words/expressions are covering absolutely proposterous statements of pseudoscience. Check your facts with reliable websites, like NASA or Wikipedia, instead of making yourself look bad
