The Guide: Little League World Series 2009

Every year around August, the Little League baseball world turns to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the Little League World Series and this year’s games are currently underway. And each year the 12-year olds, play in the hope of becoming a Little League champion.

The early round games are played at the Volunteer Stadium, which was built in 2001 and has a 5,000 capacity. And this year, it has been host to some great games. The Little League finals are played at the Howard J. Lamade Stadium, which was built in 1959 and has a 40,000 capacity.

This year’s final will take place on Monday 31st August. According to bleacherreport.com, the very first Little League World Series was held in Williamsport in 1947 and has become a bigger spectator sport, with every year it is played.
