If you watched this week’s episode of WWE Smackdown, you would of seen Jeff Hardy’s emotional exit from WWE. It had been rumored to be happening for months, but on Smackdown, Jeff Hardy ‘could’ of had his last match for good.
The real question we should be asking here is: Why would Jeff Hardy choose to leave? It was no secret that his contract was coming to an end this month, but does he really see a future away from the WWE – or is there more to it than that?
During Smackdown, he took part in a rematch for the WWE Heavyweight Championship against CM Punk in a Steel Cage match. Then Punk proposed the stipulation that whoever lost, had to leave the WWE.
Of course, Jeff Hardy went on to lose the bout in an epic encounter, thus prompting him to address the Smackdown audience in an emotional farewell. You could see that there were no jokes throughout the crowd, with even some of them bursting into tears.
It just seems strange that all this has happened to Jeff so quickly. At one point, he was on top of the world with the belt attached to his waist, with nothing seemingly able to stop him.
Then came the sudden reunion with his brother Matt, followed by the loss of the title at SummerSlam in the brutal TLC match. Could this be a quick solution from Vince McMahon’s point of view in ‘fixing all the loose ends’ before Jeff left for good?
Then again, Jeff did point out during his speech, that he ‘may’ return to the ring at some point, so maybe he is just taking a temporary exit for now.
