Richard Gasquet vs. Rafa Nadal: Friendship or Sport?

French tennis player and former world number 7 Richard Gasquet, will return to Grand Slam tennis today, as he plays against Rafael “Rafa” Nadal, who according to The Sun, was the player that helped Gasquet through his cocaine hell.

Gasquet says that Rafael was the player that supported him the most. He also adds that if Rafa, as he is also known, ever needs him, he will be there for him. But he claims that when he faces him in the US Open, he will try to beat him.

The 23-year old Frenchman landed himself a two-year ban, after testing positive for cocaine back in March. But after three months out of the game, he successfully argued that he had consumed the substance after kissing a girl in a club.

He is now hoping to defeat number 3 seed Nadal at this year’s US Open tournament. Nadal says that he supported Richard because he believes in him and says they have known each other since they were about 12 or 13 years old.
