Serena Williams Outburst Video: US Open semi-final 2009

If you haven’t had the chance to see Serena William’s outburst at this year’s U.S Open championships, we have a close up video in high quality for you to check out, letting you see what Serena said.

The incident occured during her Semi-Final match with Kim Clijsters, with Serena being called for a foot fault during her second serve. She then approached the line judge with a barrage of abuse, which led to a code violation against her, causing her to lose the point and match to Clijsters.

As you can see in the video, Serena certainly doesn’t hold back in her choice of words, although they have been censored by the TV broadcasters. Check out the video below and let us know your thoughts on it.

We also have a poll on the incident, which you can vote on here.

    Ghettofabulous!!!

  2. Lisa says:

    what an idiot…..

  3. Jesse says:

Line judge probably deserved it. And she must have known it would cost her the game, too bad she wasn’t playing to win.

  4. shep says:

Have never been a fan of Serena, and nothing I see about this outburst changes my mind. The inability to accept responsibility for her actions and apologize defines her character as a person. Inexcusable behavior. Kim would have beaten her anyway. Serena is a crybaby. She should stick to selling underwear or whatever the hell it is she’s hawking now days. Hopefully, she’ll retire from tennis soon so we won’t have to watch her tantrums. What a poor little spoiled brat.

  5. 9inchTroy says:

What a spoiled diva brat. Take your big ego to the streets as this was no way to act at the prestigious US Open.

  6. shep says:

Went to her website to voice my opinion about her behavior, but you must join her “fan club” in order to comment on her blog. That’s not going to happen. Then I clicked the “contact me” button, but apparently she has disabled that function on her website. Smart move, since there will likely be others like myself who will want to voice their displeasure with her. I love how the incident was explained on her website. It stated that she went over and “discussed” her displeasure with the lines person’s call. Nice spin Serena, who’s your P.R. person? Shouting obscenities while waving a tennis racquet in someone’s face doesn’t qualify as a discussion. Just retire now, and do all of us a favor.

  7. tjb says:

I, too, have never been a fan of Serena’s, and her unsportsmanlike conduct seals the deal. She can go after her opponents with relishing squashing victory if she is winning, but why can’t she take defeat as well? Kim was the first who came along and started beating the Williams’ sisters, and it is befitting that she is doing it again. Serena was outplayed, plain and simple, and you could see the fear from the beginning on her face. I also am sick of her arrogance, and I hope they ban her from tennis or that she retires. We all would be better off without her obvious disrespect for everyone except Venus. The press conference was a joke — totally evasive, unapologetic, and delusional. She needs psychological help.

  8. sputlu says:

Doesn’t anyone remember John McEnroe’s temper tantrums? Serena’s seemed pretty mild, except for the language. Unprofessional, yes…detrimental to her career, no.

  9. Jerome says:

About what I would expect from the roidster manwoman. NFL linebackers have smaller legs. Not a good representative of the sport or country.

  10. Annie says:

I have played tennis most of my life. Serena frequenlty foot faults and is rarely called on it. It was clear she was losing this match and to claim it was simply this one point that won the match for Kim is an underservice to Kim. Serena’s behavior was unacceptable. That is not a way to treat any human being. The line judge was simply a scapegoat for Serena who was clearly losing a tennis match. I agree with many that she should be suspended.

  11. bill says:

What an a–hole. Truely someone who can’t take losing. And the fact that she didn’t appologize. Shows everyone that she is a piece of SH*T.

  12. Tracy says:

Prestigious event??? Never fails…Y’all sriggens always HATED the williams sisters and hated that they dominated your prestigious sport….lol @ wanting her to retire…..Well tell Congressman JOe Wilson to retire from being a congressmen, this prestigious sport is a fukkin’ game….Healthcare, Economy, Unemployment rate is the prestigious sport we should be watching…damn idiots!

  13. Tracy says:

John Macinroe has made a career out of this, I don’t remember all the up in arms about him.

  14. koko says:

Serena was only under pressure…am sure alyy ya guys have sometimes gotten angry over and said some unpleasant words faced under pressure

  15. Jimian says:

No official deserves to be treated like this especially ones who give their services for free. What a dispicable woman this Williams is, putting this poor defencless women in the public eye when all she was doing was her job (and a job well done, she did footfault).

It was good to see the New York croud respond with their booing when she left courrt, I trust the lines person heard this and knows that we the punter are on her side. Shame on you Williams, with all of your millions ($$$) you treat a hardworking lady in this way. Hope the USTA have the balls to suspend you.

  16. brie hairston says:

every body makes mistake and yall little haters need to be quite because im sure yall would have react the same way.

  17. Dan says:

Only the linesman, knows whether she felt threahtened ot not. That being said, Serena\’s outburst was in the heat of the moment. As pointed out earlier others have made a living off frequent on court tantrums.

The only difference is she\’s a woman of color and that unfortunately is the reason why some are so outraged. You say – Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, but it is the ugly truth. Just read the first remark from Kate – \”ghettofabulous!!!\” Serena is black; however, she is not from the ghetto. Any reference to placing her there relies on the stereotypical perception of Kate and others like her.

Don\’t get me wrong, I agree that there is no room for this type of behavoir. I just think it is time we made EVERYONE play by the same rules.

  18. Christel says:

Ban her for at LEAST 1 year and fine her $$$$$ from any U.S sanctioned tournaments, maybe she should play only outside the U.S.A. I am sick of both William sisters!!

  19. jimbo says:

    I’d tap that :)

  20. Get It Straight says:

Everyone needs to get something straight, especially people who say McEnroe and others have used profanity a lot but never had point penalties assessed against them.

Serena’s big sin in this whole thing was threatening the line judge with physical violence. That’s a million time more problematic than simply using profanity. I don’t remember McEnroe or anyone else ever doing that.

Serena’s clearly-expressed desire to shove the ball down the line judge’s throat (while towering over her and thrusting a racquet in her direction) is what sealed Serena’s fate. Defend her if you want to, but I don’t see how that can be defended, regardless of gender or race.

The officials technically went easy on her. Serena deserved outright expulsion and forfeiture of the match for physically threatening the line judge the way she did. That’s not what happened. All the officials did was assess a penalty point.

So, let’s get it straight. Thanks.

  21. Steve Dotson says:

I for one have never been a fan of the Williams sisters. Serena’s profanity and conduct in the finals of the U.S. Open tennis match substantiate what I have always thought…she has a huge chip on her shoulder. I say suspend her from tennis for a year. Maybe then she’ll get it!

  22. chuck says:

The mark of a true champion is how they act when they lose. Prior to this unfortunate outburst, Serena would always have an excuse: My knee hurt, I have stomach problems, I have a blister, etc. Yes Serena wins at matches, but is she a “winner”, is she a “role Model”? Absolutely not.

I have never, ever seen Serena Lose like a Champion.

Quite frankly, I think we have all had enough of Serena. A sports announcer said right when he said “It’s good to see new faces in female tennis”.

I am sure glad the line judge was of Oriental background. Could you imagine if the Judge was a Blonde Blue eyed American. We would have “Rev” Jesse Jackson and “Rev” Al Sharpton all over the news whining and complaining of racism.

By the way the apology was a tad bit late. I hope Serena learns from this, even though it is too late

  23. Tim says:

U can take the girl out of the ghetto but you cant take the ghetto out the girl…It’s to bad that our children are beginnig to look up to this filth. Mine sure wont….

Tiger is one of the few….

  24. thingstodomeandu says:

Inexcusable, but we all have had blow ups before! Some people are so jugemental when they are the finger pointers!!!!

  25. Andy says:

I don’t remember Johnny Mac ever using profanity or threatening anybody. He just called people idiots, asked them if they were crazy, or if they were kidding him. As for idiots, Dan, she’s from Compton, CA. I guess that’s the hood, not the ghetto.

A little out of line Tim.

  26. Bila says:

Ban her for a year? No. Make or have for upright role models eliminate her in the first round of every tournament. Otherwise calling for her to be banned sounds like an attempt at making it easy for the competetion. If she is not a good role model, choose another player. There are many on the tour. Too bad she threatened the lineswoman. Agassi deliberately wacked a ball towards a lineswoman (she had to dodge the shot) he was p***** o** at during a changeover during a semifinal match at Wwimbledon 2001. He was not fined or made to apologize, and there wa no uproar from the snobs.
I hope it is not going to be open season for cheating Serena of points during matches since she is not supposed to getangryor complain.

  27. E says:

You can’t compare Serena’s outburst of profanity and threats to Johnny Macs tantrums. He was embarrassing and amusing all in one, but he never crossed the line like Serena did.
You can however compare what she did to what Roberto Alomar did, when he spit in the umpires face. Those are images that never ever go away. All respect gone within seconds.

A fine isn’t going to teach her jack, they need to suspend her for at least a year. Tennis TV ratings will actually go up.
