Russell Brand, Joe Perry and Katy Perry at 2009 Video Music Awards

British comedian Russell Brand made a rather impressive entrance, at last night’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, where he was this year’s host. According to reports from mtv.com, Brand walked on to the stage, accompanied by singer Katy Perry.

And as Katy entered the stage, she was singing Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” accompanied by Joe Perry. If any of you are wondering who Joe Perry is, he is the lead guitarist and co-writer, for the rock band Aerosmith, but no relation to Katy.

Aerosmith had to apparently cancel their tour this year, due to the injuries suffered by their lead singer Steven Tyler. The band has been going for 35 years now and judging by Joe’s performance last night, it proves he can still be up there with the best of them.
