WWE Breaking Point took place last night in Montreal, Canada with some fantastic matchs on offer, as well as unexpected surprises along the way. We have a detailed recap of the matches to give you now, including details on the mystery surrounding the submission match between CM Punk and Undertaker.
As reported from ImpactWrestling, the Breaking Point card kicked off with WWE Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show and Chris Jericho, taking on MVP and Mark Henry for the gold. It was a lively affair, but ended once Big Show delivered a knockout punch to Mark Henry, after he had resisted going down after a Jericho codebreaker. The Tag Champions retained.

Kofi Kingston hit Trouble in Paradise on an unsuspecting Miz to score the victory in their United States title match, while Kane came out on top in the Singapore Cane Match with The Great Khali.
After Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov had been banned from ringside for the ECW Championship match between Christian and William Regal, Christian managed to pick up the win and retain, after hitting a Killswitch for the 1-2-3.
The eagerly awaited match between DX and Legacy kicked off in exciting fashion, as the Montreal crowd hammered out ‘You Screwed Bret’ towards Shawn Michaels and HHH. After that had ended, the match turned out to be a brutal encounter with Legacy picking up the win with a double submission move, forcing HBK to tap out.
In the first of tonight’s main events, John Cena used a pair of handcuffs to assist him, as he applied the STF to Randy Orton, forcing him to utter the words ‘I Quit’, meaning that John Cena became the new WWE Champion.
Now to the main event and easily the talking point of the PPV. In the match between CM Punk and The Undertaker for the Heavyweight Title, the Phenom had appeared to have won, when he applied the Hell’s Gate (AKA Triangle Choke) to Punk, forcing him to tap out.
However, Theodore Long came out, reminding Taker that the move is still banned and ordered a restart to the match, much to the shock of the watching fans. Then when CM Punk applied his Anaconda Vice, the referee called for the bell and stopped the fight, even though Undertaker ‘did not’ submit to the move.
For veterans of WWE, you’ll know that the same thing happened to Bret Hart in 1998, more commonly known as the infamous ‘Montreal Screwjob‘. Question is though: Was this scripted or has Vince McMahon done it again?
