WWE Montreal Screwjob Part 2: Real or Scripted?

As most of you will be aware, WWE Breaking Point ended in bizarre fashion last night, as CM Punk ‘retained’ his Heavyweight Championship against The Undertaker in a re-creation of the Montreal Screwjob.

After the incident had occured, Undertaker was left looking genuinely mad, with announcer Jim Ross stating several times that Undertaker ‘did not’ tap out.

WWE Montreal Screwjob Part 2: Real or Scripted?

Im wondering if this was just a distasteful way to re-engage media interest by putting the Montreal Screwjob segment into Breaking Point, or if there is actually something real going on here.

It will also be interesting to see if anything happens on WWE Raw tonight, or if fans will have to wait until Smackdown on Friday to find out.

Let us know your thoughts on the Montreal Screwjob ‘Part II’. Full breakdown of the Breaking Point PPV can be read in our earlier post here.

Is that a serious question? or are you just dense? obviously its a work, why would jim ross say that undertaker didnt tap and then show a replay, unlike the real one where they just cut out and ended the ppv quickly.

  • Ian

I agree with Matt. Also, you could tell it was a worked finish as well because of previous storylines. Vince McMahon has been saying in an angle that Teddy Long is on probation and this was a way to create controversy. So clearly WWE are continuing that angle. Also, of course Taker looked mad, its called basic acting. That and it was really predictable that Taker wouldn’t lose cleanly.

    It was so scripted.
The main reason is yes the triangle choke that Undertaker uses was banned by Vicky after WM24 when he beat Edge for the World Tile. But I know Undertaker has used it on Smackdown since then, and nothing was said. But all of a sudden its banned again.
Big set up for Hell In A Cell.

No Matt, I’m not dense – I just thought it would be a suitable topic of discussion following last night’s PPV – Hence the comments below you.

And yeah, you just ‘know’ that it will be CM Punk Vs Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell matchup.

Do wrestling fans really have such short memories?? Maybe you all forgot, but not long after Vicky banned that move, she LIFTED the ban on it and sent the Undertaker after her “cheating spouse” Edge.

The move is NOT banned! Vince is just enough of a jerk/scumbag to believe that all wrestling fans (aka the people he got rich off of) have short enough attention spans/memories to remember.

of course, in that last line, i meat to say “have short enough attention spans/memories NOT to remember.

    From PHX

    i’m a big undertaker fan,

wwe is fake, you only have to see a match in slow motion to note the difference betwen real and fake, obious wwe its a show bussines…

i just want to see a real match like Eddie Guerrero, Stone Cold and others used to do

  • van

    hey guys,

do yall think wrestling is real or fake?

i kinda think it’s real, cuz the undertaker really looked hurt every time Punk punched or kicked him.

  • UK PAK

its half fake and half real, they get injured, hurt after every match, some of it like punching, kicking, steel chair to the head, camera to the head the wrestlers put their hands up to cover their face each and every time
the submissions are too fake compare them to UFC. The mats have special padding aswell thats why backs arent broken aftter falling off ladders etc, the tables are purpose built, its all set up with safety precautions in mind unlike UFC and MMA where the fighters just go at it.

Are you guys idiots? Are you not seeing a shift in professional wrestling? Aren’t you seeing what’s really going on? Let me explain.. WWE is losing ground to the UFC. UFC has a lot more genuine ‘reality’ to it, and as a result, the fans are watching it instead of the WWE. To combat this, the WWE is doing everything it can to trick you guys into believing it’s ‘real’. They do this by creating angles which makes the viewer wonder if what just happened was supposed to happen- like a random fan from the audience running into the ring, or another referee screwjob, or an injury to a wrestler.. these are all ‘works’ like any other ‘work’. The WWE is forced to become more creative and these are the small things they’re doing to add a bit more ‘reality’ to their show. In today’s world, when there’s real competition in the UFC, the WWE has to counter that threat and make their product also seem ‘real’. Because people just aren’t buying the fake, scripted outcomes of the WWE anymore- they want REAL competition, just like a REAL hockey game or football game or a real UFC fight. Make sense?
