It has been six years since the last time that, Vladimir Matyushenko competed in a UFC fight, and a lot has changed in that time. Tonight the former lightweight contender will be fighting Igor Pokrajac in the famed octagon for the UFC 103 fight.
Matyushenko will be new to the huge promotion since the Ultimate Fighting Championship has come to the mainstream. MMA Weekly explains that UFC is now the “fastest growing sport in the United States.” Matyushenko will certainly be happy about this new kind of promotion, as it has helped him get back to UFC.

Back in his time, Matyushenko was able to switch from heavyweight and light heavyweight, but now his focus is on the 205-pound division. This will also be very new to him, as a lot has changed over the years since he last fought. He said, “It’s definitely much more competitive.”
