Battleship and Monopoly Movies On Way

A new feature film adaptation of the peg-based board game is planned to hit the big screen by July 1, 2011. Universal has set the date for Peter Berg’s Battleship. Whiteout writers Erich and Jon Hoeber have written the script.

So will the fleet comprise of a submarine, destroyer, battleship, aircraft carrier and patrol boat? No word has come out from the writers about who they will be up against, and will the loser shout out those famous words “you sunk my battleship.”

Ridley Scott and Universal are also working on another film with Pirates director Gore Verbinski, regarding a Monopoly movie with director Kevin Lima, and an Ouija Board horror movie from Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company.
