U2 Concert at Fedex Field: 80,000 Fans

Today was when 80,000 fans congregated on the Fedex Field so that they could see U2 in action. The concert is due to start at 8 p.m. so fans have up to a five hour wait, but if you have never been to a U2 concert before, then you are in for a treat and will be worth the wait.

According to Wtop.com, the quickest route in is the Central Avenue and Arena Drive exits from the Capital Beltway. For those coming in from D.C., then you need to take East Capitol, which becomes Central Avenue. If you are traveling on the Metro, then stop at Morgan Boulevard on the Blue Line.

Absolutely an amazing concert. Bono gave it socks and worked hard with the crowd who were not as warm back. Was i the only one there who knew the words to their songs from the unforgetable fire? New Years Day was not as powerful for the same reason. Good response to their tracks from the latest album! The Alien/visual lights show was truely spectacular and worth the price of admission!

Great show!! Unlike the other comment, our section seemed to be filled more with people who knew the old stuff then the new. We were really rocking during New Year’s Day. And interesting that Bono really can’t hit a lot of the notes anymore, but still an amazing performer. Too bad it took a while for the stadium to fill up — did people not listen to the suggestions to leave early for the show? And let’s not forget MUSE — they were simply phenomenal. Their music may not be of everyone’s taste, but their performance was flawless. Too bad most of the audience wasn’t there yet.

Aside from the fact that was U-2 performing, the show rocked! The music, the personalities, the talent, the innovative show, the special effects…it all rocked, all except the audience. I agree with the above comment about the audience being a little slow to warm up. It was especially noticeable during “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” and even Bono made a comment about the audience needing a warm-up. I was in the Red Zone area and I think it was definitely where you got a better feel for the hardcore fans, but looking and listening around for the rest of the stadium was a little hum-drum for 80,000 people. Why might that be? Is it that U2 has new fans that only know the new stuff, old fans that only know the old stuff or is the DC area? Hmm… Nonetheless, being in the Red Zone with Bono, Adam, Larry and The Edge only five feet away from me was the best way to enjoy the show and I made a charitable contribution while I was enjoying the show!
