Whoopi Goldberg on Roman Polanski controversy

Whoopi Goldberg called the Today show to clarify her comments that she had made regarding her comments on Roman Polanski during The View. Her views have sparked outrage, as viewers could not understand why she would say what she did.

According to All Day, Goldberg had said on The View, “It was something else but I don’t believe it was rape-rape.” During the call, Whoopi had said that she just wanted to clarify what she meant by what she said. She said that she was talking about the legal charge against Polanski, nothing else.

She went on to say that, she is not a supporter of Roman Polanski, she was asked to join the Today Show to talk more about the subject but she kindly declined. It seems that everyone is very sensitive to very word that people say on this Polanski case.

We have also learned that the French government have now dropped their support for Roman Polanski.

    I was personally disgusted by Whoopi’s comments. I saw her say them and was shocked at her apparent ignorance and lack of compassion for a 13 year old victim. What is “rape-rape”? The Women’s movement has had to fight long and hard to even get rape taken seriously. Whoopi made herself seem incredible ignorant or basically uninformed which is too bad since she is the moderator for the show and they are briefed os subject matter prior to the show airing.
    Polanski gave the child quaaludes and champagne and performed several sexual acts ona minor. THAT sounds like “rape rape” to me!

    Whoopie, shame on you. Shame on all of you in Hollywood standing up for Roman Polanski. You all make me sick. Nothing about the way you live your lives represents the “real” America. Whoopie, I hope on your way home tonight you’re “rape-raped”. Who are you anyway? None of care what you think. I call for a boycott on Whoopie and anyone else who stood up for Roman Pedophelia. You name it, all their movies/TV shows/theater/music, etc., boycott them!!! Let’s show them who really gave them their paychecks. Hollywood -you suck.

    I am deeply offended and outraged by the views expressed by Whoopi Goldberg on the subject of rape. A 45-year-old-man drugs, sodomizes, rapes a 13-year-old child, and somehow, that does not constitute real rape?
    What’s next? Will we now hear that the victim should not have been there, that she was dressed inappropriately, ergo she deserved this base treatment? That it was her mom’s fault? Shame on all who defend this cowardly rapist who escaped justice! Shame!

    Words cannot describe my disgust and disappointment in Whoopi. You are the last person I expected to hear something so appalling from. It saddens me to see Hollywood rally around this disgraceful act. If RP had not been a celebrity he would have been condemned. When he admitted that he had done this to the child how could anyone defend what he had done? What possible good act could he accomplish that would justify allowing him to get away with brutality and rape of a child? Certainly not providing entertainment. Even award winning entertainment. Those in Hollywood who do not support him need to become more vocal, or all of Hollywood will be lumped together as vile as he is. I agree with above. Pedophiles are smiling today.
