We are minutes away from the Olympics 2016 Announcement. Remember to check the link in a previous article submitted earlier today for the live video feed.
There is alot of hoohaa about the 2016 Olympics being held in Chicago, U.S.A. According to ESPN Chicago, there are doubts whether or not the money invested in promoting the event, or even if they get the 2016 Olympics are even worth the hassle. The Chicago bid cost an estimated $48 million, and the price tag for the operating budget is an approximately $3.8 billion and another estimated $1 billion on construction.
The arguments stated are that people would have liked the money to go to something more useful, such as investing more money in clinics, revitalizing local schools, hospitals and police departments amongst other issues. Another argument states “Chicago is going to be no more of a world-class city if the IOC awards the 2016 Summer Games to us, just as it’s going to be no less of a world-class city if the IOC chooses another wallet”
It seems as the 2016 Olympics is not such of a big deal to the American’s as it is to the British or any of the other 3 cities gunning for the bid. What are your views on Chicago hosting the 2016 Olympics?

The City of Chicago cannot afford to fund any construction on the South Side. In fact, nothing about the South Side of Chicago is “World Class.” The City of Chicago should be ashamed of its South Side and the neglect politicians have chosen to exercise over this part of the City where our own Mayor grew up. The City of Chicago needs to work on fixing the “Whole City” long before hosting anything International outside of the major developed areas, such as downtown and recent renovations in the North Side districts.
So… you forget that “Pride” is a CAPITAL SIN and now you are reminded of that! Chicago was not the obvious choice. Humble yourself and let other countries make money and be successful too. Vamos Madrid, vamos Rio !
To CMRD: Where have you been?? All the parkland along the lake on the southside has been redone over the last few years, as well as South Lake Shore Drive. Hyde Park is a gem, the Kenwood district north of there is being gentrified, the Bronzeville neighborhood is being invested in. The State Street public housing towers torn down and redeveloped. Then there’s a relatively new White Sox Park, China Town is vibrant, Bridgeport is up and coming……I gotta wonder what you are talking about!
