It has been reported that Boyzone star Stephen Gately died suddenly yesterday while on holiday in Majorca, at the age of 33. It’s said that Steven went to sleep after a night out but failed to wake up. Steven leaves his partner Andrew Cowles, who was with him on holiday.
Boyzone’s manager Louis Walsh said “I’m in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony”. Steven attended the Pride of Britain Awards last week, and is said that Boyzone was planning on releasing a new album in 2010.
Band mates Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mikey Graham are said to be completely devastated and are flying out to Majorca today.
Steven Gately was born in Ireland in March 1976; he joined Boyzone in 1993 after he answered an advert to audition for Ireland’s first boyband. Steven was not only in a band he also became a star in the West End, appearing as Joseph in and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
