Both America and Canada are celebrating holiday days today. In America, it is Columbus Day today, which as mentioned earlier, is a day to celebrate Christopher Columbus’s 1492 landing in the American Continent.
And according to huliq.com, it is also Canadian Thanksgiving Day today, which is officially observed, in the second Monday of October. Of course, that just happened to fall on the same day as Columbus Day.

Depending on the employers, Canadians would normally get a three-day weekend during their October Thanksgiving, which includes Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Thanksgiving Day is classed as a statutory holiday.
On Columbus Day, most government and official buildings would be closed and many families would get together. There could even be huge Columbus Day parades and events in some areas of America.
