As we mentioned earlier today, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, has just signed a bill recently, which creates an annual state day of recognition, for pioneering gay rights activist Harvey Milk and will be known simply as Harvey Milk Day.
That now means, that the designated day of every May 22nd, will now be known as “Harvey Milk Day” in the state of California. It will be a day to encourage schools around the state, to commemorate the gay politician, who was murdered in 1978.

According to reports from rawstory.com, the reason that the designated day is May 22nd is because that day, was Harvey Milk’s birthday. Although gay rights groups have praised the decision, others have looked upon it with a different attitude.
