Stephen Gately Post Mortem Results: Pulmonary Edema

The results, of Stephen Gately’s post mortem have now revealed that the singer did indeed die of natural causes. According to recent reports from telegraph.co.uk, Stephen, who was only 33 at the time of his death, died of a pulmonary edema.

For those of you who are unsure what a pulmonary edema is, it is an accumulation of fluid on the lungs. A sample of Stephen’s pulmonary fluid, which was taken during the post mortem, will now be sent to a forensic lab in Barcelona, for further tests.

A court official said that the pulmonary edema had been acute. She did not give any details, as to whether Gately had been drinking alcohol or taking drugs before his death. Gately’s partner Andrew Cowles was told of the results before the hearing.
