American Music Awards: Nominees include Michael Jackson

It has been reported that Michael Jackson’s Number Ones album will be nominated for an award at this year’s American Music Awards, even though his album was released back in 2003.

As reported from LAtimes, the American Music Awards are usually based on recent music, but Jackson’s Number Ones album will take on Lady Gaga’s “The Fame” and Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” in the favourite album in the pop/rock category.

As we mentioned recently, Michael Jackson could also be up for a Grammy award in 2011, but due to eligibility rules, he won’t be up for any awards at next year’s event.

LAtimes state that Jackson is up for 5 awards at the AMAs. Do you think this is unfair towards other artists or do you support this? Leave us a comment below.

Unfair to other artists. I think it would be absolutely outrageous if the biggest musical star ever wasn’t acknowledged in this and every other award ceremony out there.

Why are you asking us? It’s the AMA that makes the rules. MJ sold the most..but they can try to hide it if they want, and just like many have been trying to do. Of course, his fans know better. I think the people have already spoken.
