Jennifer Burns New Biography: ‘Goddess of the Market’

Most of you won’t know who Jennifer Burns is, but she is the Assistant Professor of History, at the University of Virginia. But he is also the author of the new biography “Goddess of the Market: Ayn Rand and the American Right.”

According to blog.oup.com, the book follows Rand through her meteoric rise, from a struggling Hollywood screenwriter, to the best-selling novelist that she became. Rand was said to have published her first nonfiction work, in 1961.

Rand worked on other books over the course of a decade, such as “The Virtue of Selfishness” and “Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal.” Rand spoke about a fourth novel on several occasions, but decided to abandon fiction for good instead.
