Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua has the chance to add another trophy to his trophy case when he faces undefeated UFC light heavyweight Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida in UFC 104.
Rua, who has a history of bad luck, in which he has suffered a knee injury, which resulted in numerous surgeries has indicted that it will no longer play a part in his overall performance. It has been a year and eight months since his last surgery, and insists that it is fulled healed.
Rua spoke of his game plan to defeat the current undefeated UFC light heavyweight titleholder.
“Lyoto’s a different guy with the karate background and well adapted to mixed martial arts. It’s very tough to find him during the fight, to find the right distance because he has great timing, but I’m well prepared, for sure, with the right strategy,” he said.
Rua is obviously feeling prepared for the fight, and is going to give his best in a fight that could be tough for the former top ranked light heavyweight in the world and Pride 2005 Middleweight Grand Prix champion. UFC 104 takes place on October 24th in Los Angeles.
