Steve Phillips Fired: Announcement came during Game 6 of ALCS

Recent reports from newsday.com have just revealed that ESPN’s Steve Phillips, has recently been fired from the network. The announcement was made by the network last night, during Game 6 of the ALCS.

In the statement issued by ESPN, it said “Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN.” It then went on to say, “His ability to be an effective representative for ESPN has been significantly and irreparably damaged.”

This latest news has come only a week after his affair with Brooke Hundley became public knowledge. Phillips had previously taken leave of absence from the network, after details of the affair emerged.

Steve Lefkowitz, who is Phillips’ representative, issued a statement that said Phillips is voluntarily admitting himself into an in-patient treatment facility, so he can apparently address some personal issues.
