It was recently revealed in the news, that Oscar-winning writer Paul Haggis had quit the Church of Scientology, after 35 years in it. And one of the reasons he gave, was that it was in protest of its stance on same-sex marriages.
According to guardian.co.uk, Paul, who wrote the Oscar-winning movies “Crash” and “Million Dollar Baby,” had previously called on the spokesman Tommy Davis, asking him to denounce statements made by the church.

Haggis was then said to have wrote quite an explosive letter of resignation to Davis, which included him saying “The church’s refusal to denounce the actions of these bigots, hypocrites and homophobes is cowardly.”
Was Haggis right to quit?
