The Academy Awards will have to keep looking for their front man as Hugh Jackman ruled himself out. According to Variety Jackman has quietly declined the job, while not ruling it out in future years. He just doesn’t want to be the guy two years in a row.
The Oscars have been making changes to the ceremony as Jackman. Saw an upswing in the ratings compared to the previous falling years. No longer was a comedian hosting the gig, but an actor and rising member of the Hollywood elite.
Another change this year is the Best Picture category has been expanded to ten nominees, presumably to include more commercial prospects and bring in viewers hoping to see Pixar’s up possibly contend for the top prize.
