NBC win as Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin host the Oscars.

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will co-host the 82nd Academy Awards. And it looks like NBC has won the one-upmanship over ABC even though the awards are aired on ABC.

Baldwin and Martin host the Oscars on ABC, and will probably; attract twice as many viewers as the Golden Globes shown on NBC. So why you ask yourself is NBC happy with this? In addition to co-hosting the Oscars, Martin and Baldwin are co-starring in an upcoming movie called It’s Complicated, which is produced by NBC so the Oscars show will be one big, fat wet kiss to that new movie.

It’s unusual, for the Academy Awards to have more than one host. Ironically, more in the plus column for NBC: Both men are known as the two most frequent hosts of its late-night franchise, “Saturday Night Live.”

Martin’s a veteran, including those two solo flights as host. Baldwin really is a fresh face for the Oscars. Just last week, NBC scored a coup in the trophy-show rivalry when it announced that Ricky Gervais, would host its broadcast of the Golden Globes.
