2009 World Series MVP (Most Valuable Player)

Game 6 of the 2009 World Series took place last night and it proved to be a great game for New York Yankees player Hideki Matsui. Not only did he drive in six of the Yankees seven runs in the winning game, but he was also named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Hideki delivered a record-setting performance in last night’s Game 6, which was the game that made the New York Yankees the 2009 World Series Champions. Matsui’s record six RBI were said to be the most by any player in a World Series clinching game.

When talking through a translator about his achievement after the game, Matsui said “It’s awesome, unbelievable. I’m surprised myself.” Matsui is the first native of Japan to have won the MVP award and only the second designated hitter to win World Series MVP.
