Pamela Smart Settles Over Prison Photos: Awarded $23,875

If I say the name Pamela Smart, it will ring a lot of bells with many of you. She is the woman that was convicted and sentenced to life back in 1991, for getting her then-teenage lover from Seabrook, to murder her husband.

And we have some news on Pamela now, as it appears that she has recently received a $23,875 payout, from the state of New York. Pamela apparently sued the state of New York, claiming unfair treatment by prison officials.

This was after some photos of a scantily clad Smart, in a prison cell appeared in the National Enquirer. Smart claims that after the photos surfaced, she was forced to spend 2 months in a 23-hour-a-day lockdown facility.

She also claims that the pictures in question were taken by a prison guard, who reportedly sexually assaulted her. 42-year old Smart is currently serving her life sentence, at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in New York.

The U.S. District Judge Robert Sweet, approved a settlement agreement on Monday, to put an end to Smart’s 2006 civil federal lawsuit against the state of New York. As part of the settlement, Smart will only receive $8,750.
