Yesterday was a memorable day for both New York Yankees players and their fans. They played their final game in the 2009 World Series last night against the Philadelphia Phillies and took victory, therefore being crowned the 2009 World Series Champions.
So how many World Series have the New York Yankees actually won now? I can tell you that answer and it is 27. Yes that’s right; last night’s Game 6, 7-3 victory, made it the 27th time that the New York Yankees team have won the World Series.

And there was another achievement for a Yankees player in last night’s game as well. The achievement I am talking about is Hideki Matsui, who scored six of the seven runs for the team, winning the 2009 World Series MPV (Most Valuable Player) award.
If you missed Hideki Matsui receiving his award, you can view it at mlb.com. And we also have the video highlights of the New York Yankees winning here. Did you watch last night’s game and if you did, what did you think of the Yankees winning?
