Oprah Winfrey must soon make a decision on whether to continue her daily talk show on broadcast television, or move it to the forthcoming cable channel, that she owns with Discovery Communications.
Oprah, who in the past has taken advantage about possibly leaving her show in order to gain renewals, is also negotiating with syndicators other than CBS, several executives aware of the discussions said on Thursday.
The chairman of CBS Leslie Moonves, told analysts that it will be a few months before CBS would not know the outcome of the negotiations with Ms. Winfrey. A report on the Web site Deadline Hollywood Daily says that Ms. Winfrey had decided to end her syndicated deal and move the show to the new OWN cable channel, The Oprah Winfrey Network.
Winfrey’s show remains the most successful talk show in syndication, reaching about seven million viewers a day. To read more on this story go to nytimes.com.
