The Office: Halloween Episode Causes Controversy

It looks like last week’s Halloween episode of “The Office,” has caused a bit of controversy for one of its scenes. According to eonline.com, the scene in which Michael faked hanging himself for a haunted house stunt hasn’t made an impression with some people.

The American Federation for Suicide Prevention was a bit put off by last week’s episode of the Emmy-winning sitcom. In the scene, actor Steve Carell’s character Michael says, “Kids, just remember, suicide is not the answer. It is the easy way out.”

And that was classed as an inappropriate line, by the people whose mission it is to educate other people about mental illness and prevent them from taking their own lives. AFSP executive director Robert Gebbia, said that the scene and the line was offensive.
