Steven Tyler’s Aerosmith Quits Band: Your Reactions

After the shocking news that Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler has apparently left the band to pursue other musical flavours, the band have no idea how they are going to continue, but have vowed to try and soldier on.

It has not been made official yet, but as Tyler has had no contact with band members since they held crisis talks last week, it looks as though this will be the end for the current setup of Aerosmith.

Joe Perry, the bands guitarist has an urge to get a new vocalist, so that the band can continue, but do you think this is the right way to go? Will Aerosmith ever be the same? What are your thoughts on Steven Tyler quitting the band?

We want your reactions on the matter.

  1. Rick says:

Eric Dover (of former Slash’s Snakepit and Imperial Drag fame) would be a good fit. Also, Jeff Kieth of Tesla would probably do well in Aerosmith.

I don’t think that an alternative lineup would have near the impact of the Aerosmith we all currently know, but it would be far from irrelevant.

  2. George says:

Guest lead singers – Kid Rock and Lenny Kravitz come to mind. They don’t commit permanently to someone new, and leave the door open. And it doesn’t turn into a Sammy Hagar vs Van Halen type of situation.

  3. John says:

Joe Perry and co. should get themselves a nice bluesy singer and head back to their roots. They have nothing to prove, have made buckets of money so now they should strip it back and return to the music they fell in love with.
But they probably won’t. In the current musical climate, bands are more brands than music makers.

  4. Matt Britton says:

Personally, I think Aerosmith should disband now that Steven Has quit to pursue other avenues. Aerosmith is just Aero Crap without Steven. Any other Vocalist that joins the band, will go crazy trying to live up to all the success the band had over the past 35 years. I say Live and Let Die.

Joe Perry could become a session Guitarist, lending his talent to Rising Rock Bands, as can the other remaining members.

Best of Luck to Steven on his solo pursuits.

  5. Dave says:

Steven and Joe are like peas and carrots. One can not do without the other. Both are great rock talents(I my opinion the very best). The great band of rock is over. Joe will never fined another Steven Tyler. I am very disappointed. They are and always will be my all time favorite rock band.

  6. Tracy says:

Wow. No offense to the amazing band members, but there simply IS no Aerosmith without Steven Tyler. While it truly sucks that one person’s decision affects the lives of many (the band members), there’s no point continuing Aerosmith because, well, there IS no Aerosmith now, no matter who you choose to replace him. I don’t think you can rip off the face/identity of an entity like this and transplant it with another and have it work. It will always be broken.

  7. A.M. says:

Shocking! Ack, get a grip! Why is veryone saying how shocking this is? It’s not. The stress, strife and rifts have been longstanding and intense. Frankly, I’m surprised this didn’t happen sooner.

  8. Beltway Greg says:

Janie’s got a gun and Steven has lost his mind. Hire Steve Whiteman of Kix. Obviously the divine Mr. Tyler has been hanging out with Dr. Feelgood.

  9. Lord Maul says:

Given that Aerosmith hasn’t had a remotely decent song since 1976, who cares?

  10. -Joe says:

    Good !!
Let the guys make some real music !
I could no longer listen to this guy singing from the point of view of a like a 16 year old pervert

  11. -Joe says:

Derick St Holmes would be perfect for Perrys writing
