As we have mentioned in a recent post Taylor Swift has been awarded the CMA Entertainer of the Year, this makes her the youngest artist ever to take home the evening’s highest honor.
An emotional Swift said “I will never forget this moment, because in this moment, everything I ever wanted has just happened to me.” Taylor then invited her band to join her on stage, she tearfully continued, “Thank you for this moment. Thank you. Every single person in that category let me open up for them … thank you. I love you all.”
This was not the only award for the 19-year-old; Taylor also won Album of the Year and Female Vocalist. Shania Twain was the last female to win the trophy in 1999. Personally, I believe Carrie Underwood should’ve taken the entertainer award… If there was ever a contest Carrie would surely take home that prize! Just because you write your own music does not mean you can sing, yeah hold a note, but SING???? Carrie Underwood’s talent far exceeds Taylor Swift’s ANYDAY!!!!!!!!! And in my opinion, she already WON!
Those who don’t think she deserves it underestimate the power of preteen/teen girls! We buy her for our girls and while having to listen to Taylor over and over realize that she has a great voice and they songs are actually not very annoying compared to some of the other artists that preteen/teen kids like & we grow to like them. Then we see Taylor interviewed and see that she’s a likable girl that you’d probably let your kids hang out with or let babysit. It’s only natural that she’d win since she’s been doing so well because of people like us.
Taylor – great voice? Don’t make me laugh. Yeah, she’s a likeable girl … I’m sure she’s very nice. But I don’t think thrashing yourself around a stage, crawling on your knees and throwing furniture necessarily sets the sort of example we want for CMA Entertainer of the Year. Since when did country music dumb itself down to the level that pre-teen girls adore? I’d like to think we’re a little above that. Taylor Swift sings POP music – definitely not country. Besides that – she’s so pitchy it’s pathetic. I’ll take someone like Carrie or Miranda or Reba or Martina who can actually carry a tune without holding a bucket.
ENTERTAINER of the year. Have you been to one of her Fearless tour concerts? A really great event, a great performance, a great show – yes, for adults, too. She definitely deserves the award.
Don’t get me wrong. Taylor Swift is a nice, pretty girl who has some great songwriting skills, especially for her age. What she doesn’t have is the ability to sing very well. Any one of the other nominees would have been great choices as they all have incredible voices and are stellar performers. I agree with Mary…Taylor is a POP singer anyway.
What a s**t!!! I’ve read too many bad things about TS. I’m pretty sure they are Carrie Underwood’s fans or whatever who are jealous of TS more famous than CU and think CU can sing and is more country and blah blah blah. I dun understand why you guys are so mean to TS who can write her own songs, play musical instruments and can sing more than today teen pop stars if she wanna. Like I always said, having a strong vocal like CU or Susan Boyle or whatever is JUST A BLESS FROM GOD. We have our own talents which God give. There’s nothing to argue about whose vocal is better than who. Plus, TS vocal is not that bad. I daresay her songwriting skill and singing are beyond her age but since she is just out of teenager life, her songs are more about teens and fit more to teens. Also, if she keep trying harder, she will more sound like a mature artist. Time will tell and all of you who said bad things about TS will shut up, I daresay. Don’t waste your time to bash TS cos’ no one cares. Just shut up!!! And there is one thing; TS music is COUNTRY-POP, not country at all even if you like it or not.
Is anyone going to stand up for Taylor? I’ve never heard of Carrie Underwood, thats because I live in the UK but I think everyone in the UK have heard of Taylor Swift and from what others have said I think that most of us love her. I know that this CMA award thing is for the USA but surely someone who has become a GLOBAL inspiration in such a short time would be the one who derserced the award.
Taylor Swift deserved it, Hands down.
