Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera: UFC 105 Results

Fight night in Manchester, UFC 105 main event saw Randy Couture making his return to the light heavyweight division with this bout against Brandon Vera who saw this fight as an opportunity of a life time to spring board his career.

Round 1: saw Vera catch him right away but Couture forces Vera against the cage, doing what he does best. The rest of the round plays out just as predicted. Randy grinds out a tough round, keeping Vera’s back against the cage. In round 2 Randy gets an eye poke
Randy started to look for a take down but Vera stays on his feet.

Vera leashes a mean body kick, Randy tries to blocks it, but gets hurt. From inside Couture’s guard, Vera can’t do much and they get stood up. Couture pushes Vera against the cage. Randy seems to have been in control the entire time, but ever time Vera was able to find some distance he made Couture pay.

The final round and this fight could go anyway; Vera takes first blood as he lands a nice inside leg kick. Couture now does on the offensive and lands a series of blows en route to covering him on the fence again. In the last minute and half, Vera tries to finish the fight.
Couture deserves the win the fight, but his failure to do much real damage and Vera’s late take down could have sealed it for Vera.
