Even before the new Roland Emmerich disaster movie “2012” hit the big screen, many of us knew deep down that it would be a huge success. And it proved to be exactly that at the weekend, when it smashed its way straight to the top of the box office.
Emmerich is known for specializing in huge blockbuster movies, where things blow up and there’s plenty of action. After all, the movies that he has directed include “Independence Day,” “The Day After Tomorrow” and “10,000 BC.”

And it appears that he has accomplished a hit movie again, as according to denofgeek.com, the audiences flocked to the movie theaters to watch his new huge-budget disaster movie at the weekend, and the result was that it managed to gross $65 million.
