Call of Duty: The Movie – More Rumours

With every great game, there are always movie rumours circulating it, and with the release and success of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 game, it seems as though this one might actually make it.

Popular movies are no stranger to be converted into games, but when a game could potentially create an opening for a movie, it either goes one of two ways. Let’s take Doom for example, the original game took consoles and arcades by storm, but the film, well, was a bit of a let down to say the least.

Other movies that are being considered into making it in the movie industry are that of World of Warcraft and Halo. Although no new real news has come out of this as of late, both are in purgatory as to whether or not anything will come of it.

Back to Call of Duty, the only rumours and facts that we have are that Activision patented the trademark back in October, and now actor Kevin McKidd, who voices Captain ‘Soap’ MacTavish in the Modern Warfare games has given us this little titbit.

“They were looking for a rough, Scottish actor in Hollywood, they probably couldn’t get Gerard Butler, so they got the No. 2 Gerard Butler, me. I had no idea it would be so huge, and now there are talks of a feature film,” he revealed to PopWrap. Then came the kicker, when asked if he would be bringing Soap to life in the movie, he said, “if the script is good, and Gerard isn’t available [laughs], then absolutely.”

So does this mean there is a script somewhere? Do you think it would be good to see a COD movie? If it’s anything like “Saving Private Ryan” i’d defiantly would be interested. But it depends what kind of Call of Duty storyline it would follow.
