I don't think people really understand how soccer is, even women's soccer. I am not saying that this was normal soccer being played, however soccer is a much more physical sport than most people give it credit for. The common thought is that soccer is a sport for girls and guys who can't handle the physical nature of other sports, or they are just not athletic enough to play other sports. This event just shows that soccer is not a sport to be taken lightly and that it is a physical sport. I do agree that some of the things she did on the field were dirty, but that is one of the aspects of soccer. There are only three refs who official each game, and just as in baseball, the element of human error is a part of the game. There are some things that cannot be called on the field with only three refs, which is obviously why she wasn’t called for all but one yellow card.Although what Elizabeth Lambert did was dirty, I do not think what she did was so inappropriate that it made the stir which it did.
