Barclays Premier League: Liverpool v Manchester City Preview

Both teams started the season with dreams of being crowned the next Barclays Premier League Champions, but almost four months down the line both teams have made it difficult for themselves with recent forum dwindling down to loses and draws, which could potentially have damaged their hopes of becoming champions.

Liverpool are hoping to welcome back Steven Gerrard after a long absence out through injury, England full back Glen Johnson is also expected back, but the formidable Fernando Torres misses out again with a groin injury.

New signing Alberto Aquilani is in contention, but is expected to start from the bench and Liverpool vice captain Jamie Carragher is suspended. If Liverpool lose this fixture, they could find themselves 4 points behind City, with an extra game played.

Manchester City’s squad full of stars has also suffered set backs, with Robinho, Gareth Barry and Craig Bellamy all named in the squad to face the reds, but Robinho is not expected to feature and is doubtful with a niggling ankle injury.
