American Music Awards 2009: The Winners

As a lot of you will know, the 2009 American Music Awards took place last night, at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. And it was quite a night as well, with some well deserved awards being handed out and some shocking performances.

So for those of you who may have missed it all or maybe even parts of it, we are going to recap on the winners at last night’s event. And we can start with the award for the Best Pop Rock Band, Duo or Group, which went to the Black Eyed Peas.

American Music Awards 2009: The Winners

The award for Favorite Country Band, Duo or Group went to the Rascal Flatts, who have quite a large fan base. Green Day, Shine Down and Kings of Leon were all nominated for the Favorite Alternative Rock Music Artist award, with Green Day winning.

Taylor Swift proved to be one of the definite favorites of the night. She not only won the Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist award, but she also won the award for Favorite Country Female Artist and the award for 2009 AMA Artist of the Year as well.

And according to Associated Content, the late Michael Jackson didn’t go without a mention and an award either. The King of Pop was up for 5 nominations, but won the awards for Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist.
