According to reports from people.com, a Swiss court granted director Roman Polanski a $4.5 million bail yesterday. But apparently the filmmaker, whose work includes “The Pianist,” won’t be walking free just yet.
Roman Polanski will reportedly remain behind bars, while the Swiss government decides whether it wants to appeal the decision or not. The reports say that it now has ten days to file the necessary papers.

Under the recent agreement with the court, 76-year old Polanski would have to wear an electronic monitoring device on his ankle and stay under house arrest, while the US and Switzerland work out his extradition.
The judges, who granted Polanski’s bail agreement, apparently took into consideration the stress that his imprisonment has had on his family. Polanski’s wife and children are said to be very upset by the separation.
