The Adam Lambert AMA video controversy has gone too far. Good Morning America canceled his appearance and CBS blurred the image of Adam Lambert kissing his male guitarist, however would not blur two women kissing.
CBS explanation in full is in a recent post, however the main point was they said it may still lead to legal consequences. What consequences? Look, I’m a straight white male but I really don’t care that two men or two women were kissing on television. Why are CBS attempting to shield this aspect of society from the media?
Perez Hilton is spot on in pointing to a double standard. CBS and mainstream television could do itself a favor and show the World as it is, not as CBS thinks it should be. This seems to be the case, kissing between men and a woman is desired so they will show that to you. While kissing between a woman and another woman isn’t really that common or desired, straight men love it, so they will show it to you. Two guys kissing is not desirable but because there are so many gays in power in entertainment, they will show the scene but blur out the kiss. Surely that’s double standards.
