Tiger Woods involved in car crash

Tiger Woods was injured in a car accident near his Florida home last night, according to the police. Apparently the Worlds number one golfer pulled out of his own drive and hit a fire hydrant, then struck a tree on a neighbour’s property.

The crash occurred at 2.25am at his home in Isleworth, Orlando, and Woods was rushed to hospital by ambulance in a serious condition. Woods was being treated for cuts to his face according to a source. Alcohol did not play a part in the crash but it was still under investigation and charges could be pending.

Woods was alone in his black Cadillac Escalade and no other cars were involved. The car was travelling at less than 33mph as the airbags did not deploy. A hospital spokesman declined to give any details or confirm if Woods remained a patient.

Woods has won 93 tournaments including 14 majors. He made a triumphant return to golf this year after missing much of the 2008 season following knee surgery. To read more on this story go to telegraph.co.uk.
