DVD picture used for fraud against Ricky Gervais

The star of the office and Extra’s Ricky Gervais has been told that thieves, attempted to make off with thousands of pounds from his bank account. Fraudsters transferred more than £200,000 from Gervais’s bank account in a bid to buy gold bullion.

However the gang have been caught when they used a fake passport with a picture of the actor as David Brent as ID when trying to pick up the gold. The actor was told of the scam in a phone call from his bank who asked for permission from the comedian to involve the police in the case.

The 48-year –old asked the Police how the fraudsters thought they would get away with it, the officer replied “they normally get a passport from either a dead man or steal one and replace it with your details and your picture.” The officer showed Ricky the passport and they both started laughing, as all they had done was cut out the picture on the first series of The Office DVD.
