Microsoft Plan ‘Shock & Awe’ for 2010

There has been a lot of talk on the internet about Xbox 360 outselling the Playstation 3, and vice versa, even with the Nintendo Wii getting involved in the frey. Microsoft have realised that it is not the biggest, and necessarily not the best console out there, and to combat sales figures, they have come up with Shock & Awe.

Shock & Awe aims to knock Playstation and the Wii from it’s pedestal by releasing ‘Project Natal,’ which they are hoping to release like any other major console. If you are unsure what ‘Project Natal’ is, then follow this link or watch the video at the end of the article.

‘Project Natal’ will receive heavy advertising, much like when a major console gets a release, and with the new motion technology Microsoft are bragging about, they hope to change the industry. Microsoft’s Paul Spencer and Shane Kim have both claimed that the new technology, which infact has been pointed out, to have been ’stolen’ from the Playstation franchise, will launch like the Xbxo 360, and “be the largest leap TV experience since the remote control.”

What are you views on ‘Project Natal?’ Has Microsoft ’stolen’ the technology once developed on the Playstation 2, just after the release of the ‘Eye Toy?’

Natal is cool tech, but so was the EyeToy back when it came out, and the Wii controller when it was released. But while they were cool tech, they produced pretty much nothing in the way of interesting games (Mario Galaxy excepted). All we got was a bunch of casual-oriented, arm-flailing party games. So far I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Natal (or Sony’s motion controller) will give us anything better.

If Natal is the future of gaming, then I’ll stay where I am and live in the past, thanks.

“Shock & Awe”….just makes me think of the murderous, flawed US and British advance to Baghdad in the first few weeks of the shameful war in Iraq.

Children, women, old folks…all indiscriminately and needlessly butchered.

    Typical Microsoft babble, absolutely appalling.
