SING campaign Annie Lennox wears HIV Positive Top

Superstar Annie Lennox has been awarded The 2009 Woman of Peace Award for her effort to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS impact on women and children, through her SING campaign.

Lennox has been partnered with over 23 other female celebrities and musicians for the campaign. Annie has been a supporter of several charities that help people suffering from and at risk of HIV and AIDS. Lennox along with Bono has aired a special report from the frontline of the AIDS crisis for the American Idol charity fundraiser Idol Gives Back.

During the report Lennox performed a song for the audience, and wore a T-shirt that said HIV Positive. Annie told the Guardian, “We’re having an online auction. SING is not only about raising money, though. The other side, which is just as important, is about keeping the issue on the table. We talk about swine flu openly, we talk about bird flu openly and yet when it comes to HIV, and it’s a completely different story.”
