Almost two months since the tragic death of late Boyzone band member Stephen Gately, no will has been found or left by the superstar, leaving his $10 million fortune wavering around in thin air.
With no will to hand, to spill out his fortune, a legal battle may be on the cards which could consist of his partner Andrew Cowles and Stephen’s immediate family.
This means that Stephen will have to be declared as ‘intestate,’ which would mean that his partner and husband Andrew Cowles would receive all of Stephen’s fortune by default which includes all of his personal property, belongings and the first £200,000 of the estate. British law confirms that same-sex partnerships are recognized, unlike in Ireland.
But Andrew has said that he does not want any of the money he may receive, and would like it to go towards good causes by saying; “I don’t want a penny. I was never with Stephen for his money and don’t need it now. I want his family and his favorite charities to get the cash.”
The family do not believe that there is no will, and are almost certain he made one in London in 2003, or thereabouts.
Stephen died from an acute pulmonary edema, when he spent the night out drinking with his partner Andrew and another friend.
