According to chicagobreakingsports.com, the Texas Rangers decided to take a $7.5 million gamble on former Cub Rich Harden on Wednesday night, having only traded innings-eater Kevin Millwood to Baltimore earlier in the day.
Reports say that Rich Harden, who was a Type B free agent, signed a contract yesterday that guarantees him $6.5 million in 2010, with a chance of him earning $3.5 million in incentives that are based on innings pitched.

The deal, which is contingent on Harden passing his physical, also includes an $11 million option for the year 2011, with a $1 million buyout. The St. Louis Cardinals considered pursuing Harden, but signed Brad Penny instead.
