Tiger Woods: Sponsors Following Suit With Silence

The world’s number 1 golfer Tiger Woods has been using silence, to deal with all the recent uproar over his alleged affairs and it looks like his sponsors have decided to follow suit. They are quietly not running any of his ads, until the worst is all over.

But according to reports from latimes.com, Rick Burton, who is onetime brand manager for Miller Beer and former chief marketing officer for the U.S. Olympic Committee, says that he doesn’t think that it means Tiger is no longer a bulletproof brand.

Burton says that if any sponsors cut Tiger loose, it would make it look like the relationship was tenuous to begin with. He then said that what the sponsors sometimes do is to take an athlete like Tiger Woods, and put him in a probation period.

And for Tiger Woods, the ad window has definitely been very quiet. According to recent data that has been compiled by the Nielsen ratings company, no Woods ads have appeared on TV since November 29th, which is two days after his crash outside his home.
